Human Versus Divine Math

Jul 12, 2026    Joe Stewart

We live in an optimizing culture driven by "human math"—the exhausting, scarcity-minded panic that whispers we must secure, track, and control every outcome ourselves. This modern impulse mirrors the ancient builders of the Tower of Babel, who erected monuments to human ingenuity only to find that frantic self-salvation creates a dead-end cul-de-sac of anxiety, burnout, and comparison. God’s story, however, turns the page from the proud towers of Babel to Abram—a frail man through whom God launched a movement rooted not in human strength, but in divine trust and sufficient grace. This study is a collective heart check designed to help us lay down our self-made bricks, step off the performance treadmill, and trade the exhausting burden of building our own monuments for the freedom of joining His movement.
